Vinyl Seam Tape 2pk
Mass loaded vinyl works by adding a limp, heavy layer to the assembly. It is supplied in rolls, so a wall of any size has vertical seams. An open seam is a direct path through the layer that the rest of the barrier cannot compensate for.
How the seam is made
Sheets are butted or overlapped according to the installation detail, then taped across the full seam so the barrier behaves as one continuous membrane.
What it is not for
Seam tape closes the joints in the barrier. It does not seal the perimeter of the wall, penetrations or electrical boxes. Those are sealed with acoustical sealant, and both jobs have to be done.
