On a single room the tubes are simpler. Once the area passes a few hundred square feet the pail becomes both cheaper per square foot and faster to work with, because the installer is not stopping to change tubes every few minutes.
What you need with it
The pail is used with a bulk applicator gun. Without one it cannot be applied at the correct rate, so the two are ordered together.
Same compound
The material is identical to the tubes. Only the packaging and the application method change, so the coverage calculation and the two coats per sheet guidance still apply.
