Foil Seam Tape
Foil seam tape is used to seal the joints and overlaps in foil faced barriers and insulation facings so the assembly stays continuous.

Foil Seam Tape
Where two sheets of a foil faced product meet, the joint is a break in the layer. Taping it restores continuity, which matters for the air seal and for keeping the facing intact.
Why continuity matters acoustically
A barrier layer performs as a whole. An untaped overlap running the height of a wall is a linear gap, and linear gaps carry far more sound than their area suggests.
Application
The surface has to be clean and dry, and the tape is pressed down over its full width rather than laid on lightly. A tape that lifts at one edge has not sealed anything.
